Best Tip Tracker Apps for Servers and Bartenders (2026)

6 min read

For a plain daily tip log, ServerLife and TipTracker are the safe picks: free to start, around 9,500 ratings each, on the App Store since 2016. If your house takes tip out by role, as a percent of sales or tips, Server44 and Cashout calculate it for you. Just the Tips suits people who also use Android.

Most tip tracker apps do the same basic job: you type in your tips and hours after a shift and they add them up by week, month and year. Where they differ is what they charge for, whether they need an account, and whether they can work out your tip out or only record it. We make one of the apps below, Cashout, so read our section with that in mind. Everything here comes from each app’s App Store page and in-app purchase list.

The eight apps side by side

Checked on the US App Store on September 28, 2026. Prices are the in-app purchases Apple lists; several apps show more than one price for the same plan, so the range is given. “Not stated” means the store page does not say.

A rating count matters as much as the rating. A 4.8 from nearly ten thousand people tells you more than a 5.0 from a hundred.

ServerLife

ServerLife has been on the App Store since 2016 and has 9,765 ratings at 4.8. The free tier is generous: tips, hours, notes, totals from daily to yearly, reminders and a month-end income forecast. It is the best fit for someone who wants a proven, widely used log that also runs on Android. The limitation for servers who tip out: cash and card tips, tip out and sales all sit behind Premium, and tip out is an amount you enter rather than a rule the app applies.

TipTracker

TipTracker, from Pace Apps, is the other long-running option, also from 2016, with 9,415 ratings at 4.8. It is simple: a calendar to enter shifts, graphs by week, month and year, multiple jobs and custom categories. Instead of a subscription it sells one-time add-ons, such as $2.99 for export and $8.99 to remove ads. It is best for someone who wants a plain log and dislikes subscriptions. Its store page does not mention tip out at all.

Just the Tips

Just the Tips has 3,047 ratings at 4.5 and runs on both iPhone and Android. Tip outs can be a fixed percentage, based on sales, or entered by hand, and reports can compare tips by day, job or section with heat maps. It is a good match for someone who works on more than one device. The trade-off: you sign up with email, and your data is backed up to the developer’s cloud.

TipSee

TipSee is the oldest app here, from 2013, and it keeps everything on your phone with no login. Its advanced features, including tip outs, hourly wage and multiple jobs, are free if you accept ads. It suits someone who wants every feature without paying. The downside is a 3.1 rating from 275 reviews, the lowest in this list, and backups are your job, by email.

Server44

Server44 is new, released in January 2026, with 37 ratings at 4.9. It has the most detailed tip out setup among the competitors: ready-made recipients for bartender, busser, host, kitchen, food runner, barback and expo, each taking a percentage of cash tips, card tips or both. It works offline with no account, exports CSV and PDF, and is on Android. The store page does not mention tip out as a percent of sales, which is how many houses write their rules.

TipKeepr

TipKeepr is built around the team, not only the individual. Besides logging tips and paychecks, it can create tip sheets, split tips evenly or by hours, collect signatures, and produce PDFs to share. It is a fit for a bartender or lead who distributes the pool. It is also the most expensive app here, at $53.90 a year or $125.99 for lifetime.

Waiter Pal

Waiter Pal has 795 ratings at 4.9 and a clean design. It logs cash and card tips, tip in, tip out and sales, works offline, has an app lock, and exports CSV. It is best for someone who wants a tidy personal log with photo memos. It records tip out as a number rather than applying a rule, and the App Store lists several different PRO prices, so check the one shown to you.

Cashout

We make Cashout, so weigh this section accordingly. It asks for three numbers at the end of a shift, net sales, cash tips and card tips, and applies your house’s tip out rules by role. Rules can be a percent of net, bar or food sales, a percent of all tips or card tips, or a fixed dollar amount. It is iPhone only, needs iOS 26, has no account and no ads, and is in eight languages. The free version covers unlimited calculations and the log for this week and last week; Pro adds older history, the yearly summary, CSV export and extra jobs. The honest limitation: it launched in September 2026 and has no US ratings yet.

Which one should you pick

A casual server who wants the tip out done for them. Server44 if your house takes a percent of tips, or Cashout if it takes a percent of sales. If you are not sure which, tip out percentages by role shows both bases side by side.

A fine dining server with four or five support roles. You need an app that holds a rule per role and applies all of them every night. Cashout and Server44 both do; ServerLife Premium adds covers and sales per cover if you track those too.

A bartender who pays a barback. The barback is usually paid a share of your tips or of bar sales. Server44 has a barback template off tips; Cashout can take a percent of bar sales or of tips. If you run the whole tip sheet for the team, TipKeepr is built for that.

Someone who just wants a daily log. ServerLife or TipTracker. Both are free to start and have been maintained for ten years. If you also want your tip out written down each night, how to track tip outs every shift covers what to record, and how tip out works explains the arithmetic any of these apps is doing.

Whichever you pick, log a real week before you commit. That will show you whether the app matches how your house pays out.

Questions that come up

Is there a completely free tip tracker app?

Several are free to use for basic logging. ServerLife's free tier covers tips, hours, notes and daily to yearly totals. TipSee unlocks its advanced features for free if you accept ads. Just the Tips calls itself free. Tip out rules, multiple jobs and export are where most apps start charging.

Which tip tracker calculates tip out for me?

Server44 applies percentage rules per recipient, with templates for the bartender, busser, host, food runner, barback, kitchen and expo. Cashout applies percent-of-sales, percent-of-tips and fixed-dollar rules per role. Just the Tips and TipKeepr describe percentage or sales-based tip outs. The others log the tip out amount you type in.

Do I need an account to use a tip tracker?

Not always. Just the Tips asks you to sign up with email. TipTracker sells an account as an optional in-app purchase. TipSee, Server44 and Cashout keep your data on the phone with no sign-in. ServerLife backs up to the cloud automatically, but its store page does not say whether you sign in.

Which tip tracker apps also work on Android?

As of September 28, 2026, ServerLife, Just the Tips, Server44 and TipKeepr all have Google Play listings from the same developers. We could not find Android versions of TipTracker or Waiter Pal. Cashout is iPhone only.

What happens to my tip history if I switch phones?

It depends on how the app stores data. Apps with cloud backup, like ServerLife and Just the Tips, bring your history back on the new phone. Local apps need a backup: TipSee emails one, and Cashout writes one to your own iCloud Drive. Check this before you log a year of shifts.
