Support
One person builds and answers for Vanity. Write in plain words, say what the screen showed, and you get a reply from a human.
Useful in a first message: your iPhone model, the iOS version, the app version from Settings, and what you expected to see instead. Write to us in Privacy & about fills in the first three for you.
Common situations
- The product did not cut out, or the cut-out looks wrong.
- Cut-outs work best with one product in the frame, the label facing you, on a table or in your hand without covering the label. Glass and clear bottles are the hard case: the phone sees the contents rather than the bottle. When a cut-out fails, the app keeps the original photo in a frame instead — nothing is lost — and you can retake it from the product card at any time. If cut-outs fail on most of your products, write in with one of the photos.
- The brand or name was read wrong.
- The label is read on the phone and offered as a suggestion; it is right about the brand most of the time and about the name roughly half the time. Tap the field and type the correct value before you tap Save. If the same brand is read wrong repeatedly, tell us which one — the brand list ships inside the app and can be extended in an update.
- A product I photographed again was counted as a repurchase.
- That is the barcode: when a new photo carries the same barcode as a product already on the shelf, the app asks whether you bought it again rather than adding a duplicate. If it is a different product with the same code — a shade or a size variant — choose Add as a new product anyway on that screen.
- I hit the 35-product limit.
- The free tier holds 35 products, counting every product you have ever added. Deleting a product does not free a slot; that is deliberate, so the shelf stays an honest memory. To add more, choose Pro — a month or a year — on the paywall, or close it with Not now. Nothing on the shelf is ever removed, whichever you choose.
- What is the difference between Month and Year?
- Only the length. Both open the same Pro: unlimited products, iCloud sync between your own iPhones, the PDF export and the full backup. Month is $4.99 and starts with a free week; Year is $47.99, charged on the day you buy it. Prices differ by country. Whichever ends, everything you added stays.
- My second device does not show the same shelf.
- iCloud sync is part of Pro and has to be switched on in Settings. Both devices must be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, and Vanity switched on in the system iCloud app list. The first copy can take a few minutes because photos are larger than text. Settings shows the sync state, so you can tell waiting from broken.
- How do I cancel the subscription?
- Subscriptions live in the App Store, not in the app. Open the system Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel there. Cancelling never deletes anything: your products, photos, notes and stamps stay exactly as they are, and the free shelf keeps working.
- I paid but the app says I have not.
- Tap Restore purchase in Settings. It has to be the same Apple Account that made the purchase — a different account in the App Store is the usual cause, and it is easy to miss on a shared family device. If restore reports nothing to restore on the right account, send the receipt Apple emailed you and it can be checked.
Requirements
Vanity runs on iOS 26.0 and later, on iPhone. Cutting out and reading labels happens on the phone and needs no network. There is no iPad layout and no Mac version.
Getting your shelf out
Settings › Back up & export makes two kinds of file. The PDF is for people: every product with its photo, stamp and note, laid out like the app — send it to a friend who keeps asking what you use. The backup is for you: one ZIP with every product and all its photos. Keep it in Files, and on a new phone open Restore from a backup and pick it; the products come back in place. Both open in the normal share sheet and are part of Pro.
Reporting something broken
Anything that loses data is treated first: a product that vanished, a photo that disappeared, a shelf that came back empty on a second device. If something disappears, do not delete the app or switch iCloud off and on — that is the one action that can turn a sync problem into real data loss. Write first, describe what you did immediately before, and say whether the other device still shows it.
Questions about the products themselves
How long makeup and skincare last after opening, what project pan is, and how to keep a diary of products are questions about cosmetics rather than the app. Those are written up here:

Privacy
What the app stores and what it never sends is written out on the privacy page.
