Privacy policy
Flossgrid builds charts on your phone. The photo you pick, the chart it becomes, your progress and your stash all stay in the app's own storage on that device. There is no sign-in, no server of ours, and no upload.

What the app stores, and where
Projects, charts, marked squares, parked threads, notes, folders, your floss stash and the original photo behind each chart are written to a database inside the app’s own container on your iPhone. There is no login, no password and no profile attached to any of it. DM Apps has no copy and no way to read it.
Photos
Flossgrid asks for access to your photo library so you can pick a picture to turn into a chart. iOS lets you grant that for one photo at a time rather than the whole library, and the app works exactly the same either way.
What happens to the picture after you choose it happens on the phone: the colour matching against the DMC catalogue, the dithering, the arithmetic for skeins and hours, the PDF. Nothing is sent anywhere to be processed, which is also why it all works with the phone in aeroplane mode.
A copy of the picture is kept beside the chart, because rebuilding a chart at a different size or with a different palette needs the original. It is deleted when you delete the project and its thirty days in Recently Deleted have run out.
Backups
Backup writes a single file containing your projects, charts, progress, notes and stash, and hands it to the normal iOS share sheet. Where it goes after that is your choice: Files, iCloud Drive, Mail, another app. We never see it, and we have no way to read one.
Anonymous usage events
The app records a small set of product events: the app was opened, an introduction page was seen, a photo was chosen, a chart was built or rebuilt, stitching started or a session ended, a chart was printed or exported, a stash item was added, a piece was finished, a lesson was shown, a paywall was shown, a plan was selected, a purchase succeeded or failed, a restore ran.
These carry counts, flags and fixed option names from a closed list defined in the app’s source: how many stitches a chart has, how many colours, how many minutes a stitching session ran, which of the four palette modes was used, which plan was tapped.
Never included in an event, by rule:
- Your photos, or anything derived from them that could reconstruct one.
- Project names, folder names and notes you type.
- What is in your floss stash, and what you have bought.
- Anything you type into search.
The line is simple: if you typed it or photographed it, it does not go into an event. If we defined it, such as a screen name, a mode from a fixed list, a yes/no flag or a count, it may. There is no automatic screen capture, no session recording, and every automatic collector in the analytics library is switched off.
Events are sent to PostHog, which processes them on our behalf, keyed to a random identifier generated on the device. That identifier is not your Apple Account, your email or your phone. Analytics can be switched off in Settings, and the app works identically with it off.
Purchases
Buying Flossgrid Forever, or subscribing, happens through Apple. The App Store tells the app whether a purchase is active, and that is the whole of what we receive. We never see your card, your billing address or your Apple Account. Refunds, cancellations and family sharing are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms.
Children
Flossgrid is rated 4+ and collects nothing that identifies anybody, of any age. It has no chat, no accounts, no user-to-user features and no advertising.
Your rights
Everything the app knows about you is on your own device, so exercising a right mostly means using the app: delete a project and it is gone, empty Recently Deleted and it is gone for good, delete the app and all of it goes with it.
For the anonymous events, write to support@dmapps.app and the random identifier’s data will be deleted. Please include roughly when you installed the app, since without a name or an email that is the only way to find the right one.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your phone, the app will say so on a screen rather than quietly updating a page here. The date at the top is the date of the last change.
